It's time for a generic Pokemon Go post, but I'm all for shoving my opinions down people's throats on the internet so here goes.

I've seen so much shit on Twitter (and other social media) about Pokemon Go being lame and nerdy, amongst other things - and I just don't agree. This isn't some nineties kid bias either, I wasn't into Pokemon when I was younger, I didn't watch the tv show or have trading cards - I basically know nothing about Pokemon, yet I can see so many positives of Pokemon Go.

This blog post was actually inspired by a post I saw on Twitter which you can see here. In case you don't want to read, I'll summarise - it basically involves a mum describing how Pokemon Go helped her autistic son socialise with strangers and break out of his routine and honestly, it's just a lovely read.

This got me thinking though, that Pokemon Go so helpful with getting people up and out generally. Whether it's to help battle depression, a distraction from self harm, or to increase activity levels and socialising, I can see so many positive impacts.

The fact that I didn't grow up with Pokemon definitely hasn't stopped me playing it however, and I'm loving it - but even if I wasn't, I don't see the point in hating on it. The app is doing so much good and just because it might not be your cup of tea, there's no need to be a keyboard warrior. If you don't like Pokemon Go, don't play - but you might just be sorry for all your bitchy posts when the geeks inherit the Earth.
